Difficulties

These are some difficulties and issues we came across during the creation of NomNom since the beginning.

1. Enclosure's Size

We changed our enclosure design / dimension / material. The issue we found most difficult was that we could not close the box, because there isn't enough space for Cables, Potentiometers, Arduino, and Trellis.

We broke many cables forcing it to close. The solution we came up with is to use the right angle header pins to save about 1cm of space (height).

2. Proto board

We decided to use Adafruit Perma - Proto Half-Sized Breadboard PCB  to reduce the height of the breadboard and solder the circuit ourselves. But, it actually took us more time to solder and later on realize that even though the soldering looks good [ at least to us ], we accidentally connected all the circuit together and short circuited the entire board. Only took us 2 days to figure it out....

3. Right Angle Header Pins on Adafruit's Trellis Board

After a great while of series of debugging, we also found out that soldering right angle header pins onto Adafruit's Trellis Board was a terrible idea! We managed to salvage one of two Trellis's board with the help of Aaron [ 2nd yr ].

4. Always, Always Check whether the potentiometers work or not

Some potentiometers that we took from the shop does not always work. Even though, there is power in it. Lessons learned on always check if they work 100% before using them. We end up buying potentiometers from Mammoth Electronics.
