The Hidden Form

Features: VR, Animation, 3D / 3D Scanning

Medium: Unity3D, 3D Rigging

Date: 2017, NYC

The Hidden Form is an exploration on the relationship between designed physical space and possibility of dystopian futures in VR. This project is a personal interpretation of Lebbeus Woods’s philosophy, theories, and manifesto.

In this VR experience, architectural forms are alive, dancing in the space. User is invited to not only see this dystopian world from a distance, but to be part of it.

This is a speculative future that I envisioned based on Woods work. It is the aftermath of how structural forms could respond to human and nature action. And of how a society could look like.

When you explores the VR environment and gets close to the humans, you can hear their voices.

“Our lives are like the wind... or like sounds. We come into being, resonate with each other… Then fade away”

“The creation of a single world comes from a huge number of fragments and chaos.”

“You may not like what's happening, but just accept it, and let's try to live together. Even if you feel angry, let's be patient and endure, let's try to live together. I've realized that this is the only way forward. “

“The Earth speaks to all of us, and if we listen, we can understand.”

Manifesto - Lebbeus Woods

“Architecture and war are not incompatible.
Architecture is war.
War is architecture.

I am at war with my time, with history,
with all authority that resides in fixed and frightened forms.

I am one of millions who do not fit in,
who have no home, no family,
no doctrine, nor firm place to call my own,
no known beginning or end,
no ‘sacred and primoridal site’.

I declare war on all icons and finalities,
on all histories that would chain me with my own falseness,
my own pitiful fears.

I know only moments, and lifetimes that are as moments,
and forms that appear with infinite strength, then ‘melt into air’.

I am an architect, a constructor of worlds,
a sensualist who worships the flesh, the melody, a silhouette against the darkening sky.
I cannot know your name. Nor can you know mine.

Tomorrow, we begin together the construction of a city.”
